Z-15 1932 Alfa Romeo SC 2600 Monza* Carlo

The Alfa Romeo BC ranks alongside the Bugatti Type 3S as the most successful prewar racing car with three wins in the Mille Miglia, three in the Targa Florio, four at Le Mans and at numerous shorter races at circuits like Monza and Monaco. For all its successes on the track, the BC 2300 and the later 2900 were available to any customer for road use. The larger-engined BC 2900 competition and touring cars benefited from a decade of engineering refinement at Alfa Romeo and became the most successful sports cars in the late 1930s. A trio of 2900As placed first, second and third at the 1936 Mille Miglia, while three specially built 2900MMs accomplished the same result in the 193B Mille Miglia. The BC 2900Bs were among the finest Italian touring cars produced with coachwork by some of the greatest Carrosseries in Europe and finished with a style of unsurpassed elegance. Now these powerful Alfas are among the most highly sought after cars in the world and as displayed here at Pebble Beach today, the unique charm of these B-cylinder masterpieces is still enjoyed on the road by collectors from around the world.
