X-08 1964 Zweirad Union Kavalier Type 115 Motorcycle

In 1958, a new motorcycle manufacturer was created with the merger of Victoria, Express-Werke and DKW into one company called Zweirad Union. After creating a streamlined Zweirad Union business model it seemed appropriate that a streamlined moped be produced, and in 1960 several newly designed models were presented for sale. The most memorable of these machines was the legendary Type 115/155, better known as the “Tin Banana.” Different models could be purchased either with pedals or as a “Kleinkraftrad,” a low-powered machine with foot pegs and a kick starter. These modern 49-cc mopeds were aimed at 16-year-olds who were limited to riding motorcycles of a maximum 50-cc displacement. Owned in 2014 by John Landstrom, Norcross, Georgia
